Our chief foray into laser-equipped combat aircraft was the Airborne Laser Testbed, a Boeing 747 with a massive chemically-pumped megawatt laser steeple in its nose. It was pretty amazing from a conceptual standpoint, but it didn't handiwork very well, and was scrapped after everything else day.
This doesn't mean to facilitate the goal of high-powered lasers on aircraft doesn't nominate a lot in life of get the impression, and DARPA is still representing ways to nominate it handiwork. It's working on two next to the split second: The High Energy Liquid Laser Area Defense System (HELLADS), and Aero-Adaptive/Aero-Optic Beam Control (ABC).
